Learn To Listen More And Talk Less (My Personal Lessons From Life)

It’s 7:48 am local time here this morning in Kathmandu, Nepal.

And during this trip I’m with family. Lots of family.

It has been an amazing trip thus far.

However, there have been a few moments where I had spoken a bit too much, been a bit too opinionated and let my ego/temper take over.

Obviously, I am away from my New Jersey and not in my normal routine.

I have lots of pent up energy that I would otherwise let out in my work, training, and exercise. I am only working 30 minutes to 1 hour on my business. Other than that my routine has been disrupted.

That said, I have quickly noticed that I must do a better job of holding my tongue, listening more, and talking less.

I am a happy soul, full of excitement, playfulness, joy but also have a short fuse with certain family members, like anyone would.

Therefore, I have entered into a heightened state of awareness and observing more of what is going on, the energy of my environment, the company I keep, and what comes out of my mouth.

If you know me, you know I love my family but also love “me” time.

This trip has opened my eyes to that balance and to the all too common theme in my life of listening more, talking less and communicating better.

There are certain people in this world where I have to be fully aware of my words and actions.

There are some with whom I can be a little more casual.

Still others with whom I a am at home, free, let loose and enjoy each others company.

At the end of the day, I have re-learned the power and importance of solitude, learning to love being alone and to love and enjoy time with myself more than ever.

In times of chaoe, close your eyes, take 3 deep breaths, and just meditate.

I am my greatest fan and no matter what happens in this life, I am and will always be there for me.

I love you Sonam.

Have a beautiful rest of your trip in your homeland, Solukhumbu.
