Listen To Your Body

The human body is a collection of systems. CNS, Nerves, Digestive, Endocrine, and so much more. In fact our body has 11 major systems.

Recently, I’ve been working every day. Easily 15 to 16 hours per day.

The first half of my day consists of writing for my website, youtube scripts, posting to our social media platforms. The second half of my day consists of admin work (payroll, bills, speaking with clients), onboarding new clients, closing sales, scheduling new classes/training sessions. The third part of my day consists of coaching my athletes for 3 to 4 hours at the Secaucus Recreation Gym as a Basketball Skills Trainer.

To be honest, I feel great and am in a fortunate position where I love my work and so I am energized by the work, my clients results and being able to impact others with my online business and move and exercise with my students in my in-person Sports Coaching business.

Rest & Relaxation

That said, yesterday I received a whisper from my body telling me to, “RELAX a little brother.” And at 35, I’ve become wiser and listened to my body last night. I could have easily went back in the trenches and worked on my muse, my online business, but I decided my work will always be there. I had been working non stop, everyday serving and pouring into others, it was time I served and poured into myself.

Now, for me, I love to relax by taking a long hot and cold shower, meditating, napping, walking out into nature, doing something fun with my wife and/or son, making love with my wife, exercising, connecting with my man downstairs (if you know what I mean), watching an awesome movie/tv show/documentary, listening to soothing, high vibrational music, dancing wildly & freely, enjoying my favorite foods, listening/learning from podcasts, youtube channels, reading or learning about philosophy, and comedy.

And so yesterday, I chose to spend some time with my wife and son at the park, buy a Happy Meal for my son and nephew, dancing with my son to a song called “Highs & Lows” by Gabrielle & Prince, playing drums with my son. And since my wife was on her period I spending some alone time with myself and pleasured myself. Again, I am a free thinker and free spirit, so sorry not sorry if that may offend you, because I live life freely and openly.

Nature

This past Saturday, my wife, son and I visited to Tranquility Farms in Green, NJ, about a 50 minute drive for us. I noticed once I entered the Corn Maze, away from all the ruckus and stayed still listening, watching and feeling the cool Autumn breeze hit my face and witnessing the plants sway back and forth I felt a wave of relaxation wash over me and my body thanking me for bringing it out there into the countryside. It was a getaway I didn’t even know I needed, but my body knew.

Sleep

Last night I slept at 12:30 am, which is off my normal schedule of 10:30 pm and so I woke up groggy, not fully recharged. I woke up did my usual morning routine, but noticed I had braing fog, my eyes were heavy and my body was not ready for work. Thankfully, as a business owner, I have the luxury to wake up what I want and do whatever the hell I want. And so, experience has taught me to listen to my body and so I did. I went back to sleep at 7:42 am and woke up at 8:15 am. Lo and behold I woke up refreshed, recharged and ready to conquer my day.

Knees

I play a lot of Basketball these days as I am also a Basketball Skills Trainer. And recently I felt my knees begin to hurt a little when I make sudden cuts or put pressure on one knee to do a “step back” or “side step” Basketball move.

I listened to my body and have begun single leg knees over toes strengthening exercises. I am happy to report after a week of knee strengthening exercises, walking backwards, single leg stability work, my knee pain is gone and I can now play at my peak level on the court.

Hunger

I am a big proponent of intermittent fasting due to its vast benefits. However, I understand, that there are times when my body just needs to be refueled. For example, if I’m about to train my athletes I know I will have to have the proper portions of proteins, carbohydrates and fats in order to give them high quality traing, my focus, presence and not snap on them because I’m running on “E”. I have learned this the hard way and do everything in my power to remain fueled before my classes with young students and intense, hard core training sessions with my older athletes.

One last thing, I wanted to share with you is that in times of stress, closing eyes and deep breathing through my nose has helped me reaming calm, grateful and much more level headed.

I hope you found some value from my life experiences.

I encourage you to listen to your body and tune in to the vast wisdom it has to tell you. It wants whats best for you. I have listened and continue to honor it every day. It has served me well in return and I am forever grateful.

Here’s to listening to our body more.

Love,

Sonam
