Number 1 Domino To Accomplish Your Dreams (Consistent Bed Time & Wake Up Time)

I know you’ve heard it a million times, but I speak from firsthand experience that sleep is the number 1 keystone habit that will super charge your energy and give you the life force you will need to accomplish your dreams.

For instance, for the past 3 weeks I had been binge watching youtube videos until 1 am, sometimes 2 am., and wake up at 8 am, sometimes 8:30. And after waking up I would always feel a little “off”. I would have this brain fog, dizziness, or just “loser” feeling of being behind the 8 ball.

And objectively speaking, if I sleep at 2 am and wake up at 8, that’s only 6 hours. And for me 7 to 8 hours is what I need to be at my best. So I knew not only was I getting insufficient amount of sleep but my circadian rhythm was off.

You see, I’m a morning person and do my best work in the wee hours of the morning. For me, those few couple of hours is “magic time”, where I am 10 times more productive than any other time during the day.

Okay so let’s do a quick comparison of my results having an inconsistent sleep schedule vs. a consistent sleep schedule.

With my inconsistent sleep schedule, I would wake up, quickly wash my face, brush, then groggily & hurrily drop my son to school. Come back either drink some coffee and get to work or go back to catch up on sleep.

I was also watching hours of youtube videos to learn about “options trading” to add as my additional source of income. I also did not train my players during this time nor did I want to train them, as I was feeling lethargic, lazy and just wanted to stay at home. Lastly, I would feel this sudden feeling of anxiety and just lustlessness for life.

Fast forward to my consistent sleep schedule, I sleep around 9 to 10 pm, wake up around 5 am to 6 am. I spring out of bed, am up before everyone in my house. I calmly wash my face, brush my teeth, and complete my morning routine in a very relaxed, elegant and confident manner.

I’ve got my “swagger back” with a pep in my step and a deep love and lust for life.

My energy is through the roof. I am finally back here on my blog writing again.

Just yesterday I posted 3 stories after a month and half to my Instagram to give value to my followers and hopefully be able to connect and coach people online. Afterwards, I trained 2 of my clients for 3 hours, positively impacting their lives, their health, their Basketball skills and earning $225 cash for my family. And since I GET to do what I LOVE, which is train athletes, I was able to get a few pick up Basketball games in to have more fun, improve my health, and coordination.

To close out my evening, I walked with my wife and son in nature, bought a few things at CVS, went to the park and enjoyed playing, running and being fully present with my family.

In closing, if you’re anything like me, you sometimes have to learn the hard way. And learn the hard way I did.

I had to re-learn that staying up late and sleeping past 12 just doesn’t mesh well with my circadian rhythm and genetic make-up. I’ve known this for years but with the autonomy I have as a business owner I fell into the trap of getting out of my routine and disobeying my body’s love for consistency.

I am so very happy to report, I am back to my high performing, high energy and highly fulfilled self again.

Life is good again.

I hope and wish the same for you as well.

If you or someone you know is struggling to have energy in their day, please share this post with them.

Sleep is the miracle drug and as they say, “the best things in life are free.”

Sending love to you all.
