Live In Day Tight Compartments

This is an idea I learned from the great Dale Carnegie in his legendary, timeless book, “How To Stop Worrying and Start Living”.

This is a topic that is very near and dear to my heart because it has helped me overcome some of my darkest moments in my life.

There were several times where I thought there was no way out of my situation or that my life was over. There were even times where I went into depression. During these times, I was in such a heat of worry that I couldn’t function, I didn’t want to eat, exercise, sleep, or do anything.

It wasn’t until I read and listened to Dale Carnegie’s “How To Stop Worrying and Start Living” that I was able to see the light at the end of the tunnel by learning to overcome our worries of the past or the future we must simply,

“Live In Day Tight Compartments”.

This simply means to just focus on today. To go one step further, focus on just this very moment. The next moment and the next. You have no business worrying or focusing on the past or future for the past is gone and the future does not exist.

“Live until the evening”.

I know this is easier said than done, but put it into practice and you will see it’s power and that it does work.

You see I first picked up this book when I was merely 15 years old (I am 31 years old now at time of writing), reading it on a park bench to help me with my worries. At that time some of my worries were: how long will I live, will I be able to get Straight A’s to please my strict Asian parents, will I see my parents again when I die, will I get into one of the top high schools in the country: St. Peter’s Prep High School, if I got in would I be able to make the high school Basketball and Soccer team, will I even be able to handle the workload at Prep and many other things.

Worry affects us all. Some worse than others. I know life can get hard and sometimes so hard where you have suicidal thoughts. But just know there are people that love you and that if you just lived this moment as beautifully as you can, then the next moment and then the next, you’ll slowly come to realize that life is beautiful and worth living.

So choose to live in day tight compartments. Pay no mind to the past or the future.

Life is short and you will die in the end anyway. Work towards your higher purpose, help someone and live your best life.

With love,
Sonam
