Call me bias but I love Gusto and have used them for my local Sports Skills Training Academy called Invincilete Sports Academy, LLC for 5 years now.
I have a team of 5 Basketball and Soccer coaches, whom I pay via Gusto every week.
I mean coming from Jersey and working in New York City for 8 years, I’ve been to networking events and have been pitched from a number of Paychex and ADP Sales Reps. If you’re from Jersey and New York you know what I’m talking about. Not to mention the cold calls and constant solicitation of payroll services. It’s like walking through a blizzard. Pros:
- Payroll completed in under 4 minutes (yes I time my payroll process!) This has come in hand when I was traveling in Nepal, Bhutan and Thailand with my wife and son last year. Can’t be bothered with payroll when you’re having fun and traveling the world with your wife and 5 year old son.
- Easy Contractor setup. Done in under 10 minutes
- Tax time – during tax time Gusto comes in the clutch and handles my W2 & 1099 forms to submit to the IRS. Phew! Big relief. I hate doing my taxes and filing forms! Thank you Gusto!
- Instant confirmation of payment submitted.
- Live Customer Support. Always available! Fast help via live chat or phone call.
- Ease of Use: Intuitive design and straightforward navigation make payroll management accessible even for non-experts.
- Automatic Tax Calculations: Accurately calculates and files federal and state taxes automatically, reducing error risk.
- Benefits Administration: Integrates with various employee benefits like health insurance, 401(k), and workers’ compensation.
- Employee Self-Service Portal: Employees can access paystubs, tax forms, and update personal information directly through their Gusto account.
- Integrations: Connects with various accounting and business software for streamlined data management.
- Time Tracking. I am able to have a log of ALL the time my Coaches have worked. Priceless.
- Pay Stub. I always take screenshots and send them to my Coaches for confirmation of payment. Priceless.
- Payment Statement. Once again, paper trail, verifications and record keeping! Yes please!
Cons:
- Takes 4 business days for my employees to receive their payments
- Price. $67 per month, plus each new contractor/employee is $10
- Gusto does not have built-in time tracking functionality, requiring a separate tool for time management.
- No Mobile App. Not sure why. Gusto get a mobile app. Like…NOW!
- No geo-tracking features. You’ll need to use a separate tool and integrate it with Gusto.
- Limited performance management. Can’t do much in terms of measuring employee performance and compensation. Again, you’ll need a separate software and integrate it to Gusto for that.
Conclusion:
Gusto is one heck of a payroll software. It has solved my companies payroll needs and more.
With it’s ease of use, consistent payments to my team, handling tax filings for me during tax time, and allowing me to just take care of my guys has meant the world to me.
